Arsenal have reportedly joined Inter Milan in the race to sign £25million-rated Newcastle star Ayoze Perez.
The 25-year-old has netted a career-best 12 Premier League goals this season, but has ended the campaign in sparkling form – prompting several top clubs to sit up and take notice.
The Toon star, who is also being watched by Napoli, moved to St James’ Park in 2014 and although he has hardly been prolific that has not stopped constant speculation about his future.
Indeed, after recently scoring a hat-trick against Southampton, the forward admitted he could move on: “In the summer there is going to be options. That means I have done something well. I’ll be up for hearing what is coming.
“I can hear what is coming for me, what they offer for me, but it doesn’t mean I am going to leave 100 per cent at the end of the season.
“It is going to be a difficult decision. It depends on a lot of things.”
Perez could still be tempted to stay on Tyneside should Rafa Benitez keep his job, after adding: “We all want him to stay. It means a lot for this club.
“Every fan wants him to stay as well. So there are a lot of things to think about, but we will see.
“Obviously it has been five great years over here and I have improved a lot as a player and a person. I cannot thank Newcastle enough.”
However, after suggesting that he could move on – both Inter and Napoli were on alert, while Gunners boss Unai Emery is looking to revamp an Arsenal squad that has underperformed this season.
The Emirates outfit are not expected to splash the cash this summer and are more likely to move for bargain buys, with Perez viewed as back up front pair Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
