Arsenal’s long-running efforts to sign left-back Kieran Tierney have finally paid off with the news that the Celtic man has signed with the Gunners for a rumoured £25 million fee.
The 22-year-old had long been linked with a move to Arsenal and becomes Unai Emery’s eighth signing of the summer, following the high profile arrivals of Nicolas Pepe, William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli and Dani Ceballos on loan.
Tierney had spent his entire professional career to date at boyhood club Celtic but made clear his desire to test the waters if Arsenal came in with a bid that Celtic deemed sufficient.
The Gunners had previously had a £25m bid rejected as Celtic were unimpressed with the structure of the deal, rumoured to include a clause that only guaranteed a portion of the payment should Arsenal secure Champions League qualification in the 2019-20 season.
Manager Unai Emery told Arsenal’s official website: “We’re delighted Kieran is joining us. He’s a very talented player who will continue to improve.
“He increases our options defensively and I look forward to him joining our group.”
Tierney, who has won 12 caps for Scotland, made over 150 appearances for Celtic after making his debut in 2014.

Although the deadline has passed, Arsenal are still heavily rumoured to have completed the signing of David Luiz, with only administrative duties the reasons cited as to why the deal has yet to be announced.
