Arsenal manager Unai Emery is reportedly hoping to push through deals for four of his summer targets as soon as the club’s Europa League final commitments are over with.
The Gunners take on Chelsea in the Europa League final in Baku next week, with a win for Emery’s side booking them a place in the Champions League next season.
A return to the top seat of Europteamtalk.comean football would also grant Emery additional funds to strengthen his squad this summer. According to reports, Emery will have £75m to spend this summer should they reach the Champions League; on the flip side, defeat in Baku will mean a return to the Europa League and the Arsenal manager seeing his summer budget cut to around £40m.
Nonetheless, the Spaniard has compiled a list of summer targets and already has a number of names in mind as he looks to bolster his side.
Top of Emery’s wishlist is a new central defender and Espanyol’s Mario Hermoso appears to be top of his wanted list.
According to AS, Arsenal are set to lodge a €22.5m (£20m) offer for the 23-year-old, who this season has won international recognition with the Spanish national side.
The player is also interesting PSG and Bayern Munich, but Arsenal hope an early approach could be key to securing his signature, with both Shkodran Mustafi and Calum Chambers both set to be on their way out of the Emirates this summer.
Emery is also in the market to sign a new goalkeeper this summer with Petr Cech set to play his final match of his illustrious career in Baku before taking up a big cheese role at former club Chelsea.
In an ideal world, Emery would like to see Valencia goalkeeper Neto, but with his €70m exit fee proving beyond, the Gunners look likely to settle on the free-transfer capture of Markus Schubert, 20.
Bild reckons talks for the Dynamo Dresden youngster are well underway and the Germany Under-21 keeper, rated highly in his homeland, will provide cover and competition for Bernd Leno next season.
Emery also wants to bolster his central midfielder options and we reported on Wednesday how the club are mulling over a deal for River Plate midfielder Exequiel Palacios.
Argentinian radio station Radio Continental report that Arsenal have emerged as the new favourites to land Palacios, ahead of Real Madrid who wanted him last summer, with the player having a €17.5m (£15.5m) exit clause in his contract.
And Palacios may not be the only South American heading to Emirates Stadium this summer; the Gunners are already believed to have tied up a €7m (£6.1m) deal for attacker Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano.
Qualification for the Champions League would give Emery the funds to perhaps bring in a fifth new signing, though extra cash could yet be generated from the sales of some members of his squad whom the Arsenal boss could look to move on.
