Arsenal learn how they can land exciting wing target for less than €40m
Arsenal are beginning to learn the costs of a deal that could see them sign Justin Kluivert and sell Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports in Italy.
Mkhitaryan has spent the current season on loan at Roma, having struggled to live up to expectations since his move from Manchester United. Apart from injuries, his time in Italy has gone much better, and he is keen to stay there.
However, Roma are struggling to afford a permanent deal. The Serie A club have posted record losses recently, and will need to think about selling players before signings.
That’s where an opportunity could arise for Arsenal. Justin Kluivert is one of the players Roma are most likely to make a decent profit on in order to balance the books.
The Dutch winger joined Roma from Ajax in 2018 for a fee of €17.25m. Gazzetta Dello Sport claim they could double their money by setting a price tag of between €35m and €40m.
Arsenal could take advantage by working on a swap deal to send Mkhitaryan to Rome permanently, for between €12m and €14m. That would benefit both clubs – technically lowering what Arsenal would have to pay for Kluivert, while also giving Roma the profit they need.
Mino Raiola acts as agent for both players, which could make negotiations easier. The report states that talks have begun between Raiola and the two clubs this week.
Previous reports suggested that Arsenal would be willing to pay around €14.5m plus Mkhitaryan to sign Kluivert. It appears they will have to stretch a little further than that.
