Arsenal confident of securing free-transfer signing

Arsenal are confident of wrapping up a free-transfer move for Ryan Fraser this summer, according to a report.

Bournemouth winger Fraser, whose contract expires on June 30 at Bournemouth, is heading for Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.

In April sources told TEAMtalk that Arsenal were in pole position for Fraser and they were confident of securing his signature when his contract expires.

The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the Scotland wing star.

Arsenal’s interest in the Scotland international peaked after his performances in the last campaign and he admitted that the speculation linking him with North London had affected him.

Fraser said: “Maybe it hasn’t helped. Subconsciously, you might think about it. I’m just trying to get on with my work. Every player says that.”

Fraser has been one of the Cherries’ best players in recent seasons, registering 14 Premier League assists last term, and while this season has been more challenging with just four assists, Arsenal remain keen.

Spurs have also been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, but according to the Daily Express recently Jose Mourinho has retracted his interest in the winger.

The newspaper says that Mourinho is not willing to take the chance on Fraser, instead, it is claimed that Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson wants Fraser at Selhurst Park, with the Eagles boss singling the winger out as a top target.

Indeed, Palace are looking to back Hodgson in the transfer market after he signed a one-year contract extension in March.

According to Football Insider, a deal is “all but done” that will see Fraser move to an as-yet unnamed club, ending his seven-and-a-half-year spell with Eddie Howe’s side.

The former Aberdeen man signed for Bournemouth for less than £500,000 in January 2013, when the south coast side were in League One.
