Arsenal and Spurs are monitoring the situation surrounding a Manchester United defender with an uncertain future at the club, a report claims.
Reports last week suggested that United will trigger a year extension in Phil Jones’ deal, but will then listen to offers in January.
Jones will see his current deal expire next summer, however United have the option of extending for an extra 12 months.
Jose Mourinho was reportedly ‘furious that the club failed to sign a centre-back last summer’, however his ‘lack of options are unlikely to be a reprieve for Jones’, the Metro stated.
According to talkSPORT, north London rivals Arsenal and Spurs are both watching the situation and could make a move in January to bolster their rearguard.
Mourinho is however apparently keen on keeping Jones, while the club are reluctant to sell him to a top-six rival.
However, should they fail to agree on a new deal with the 26-year-old, they will have little control over where he ends up should they choose to cash in.
