Sven Bender: Signed a new Dortmund deal

Reported Arsenal target Sven Bender has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Borussia Dortmund until 2021.

The midfielder has been linked with the Gunners for the last 18 months, while Tottenham were also believed to be tracking the 26-year-old last summer.

The Germany star has in the past revealed his fondness of English football,

“I really like English football. Outside of the Bundesliga, it would fit my style of play best.

“Should I ever consider a move, the Premier League would be the only league coming into my thinking,” Bender said in July 2014.

However, Bender is staying in the Bundesliga with Thomas Tuchel’s men.

“I am extremely happy to be able to keep wearing the Dortmund top in the future,” said Bender.

“I would be happy if in the coming weeks other team mates follow suit.”

Several Dortmund players, including Ilkay Gündogan and Mats Hummels, have repeatedly been linked with moves abroad.

“I am happy that a player with such strength of character has decided in favour of a future with us,” said Dortmund chief executive, Hans-Joachim Watzke.
