Germany international Mesut Ozil has revealed his ambition to win the Champions League which could see him being forced to consider leaving Arsenal.

Ozil along with Alexis Sanchez will enter the final months of their contract at the Emirates Stadium after Christmas and speculation grows over their future at the club.

The former Real Madrid playmaker has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Catalan giants Barcelona in recent months with Ozil available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Metro claims that Barca see Ozil as a cheaper alternative to Philippe Coutinho if their move for the Brazilian fails to come to fruition.

Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League last campaign and are currently just inside the top four positions in the Premier League.

And Ozil admits that he has a burning desire to win the top prize in European club football before he retires.

“I would like to win the Champions League once,” Ozil told Sport Bild. “This is my big goal, which I will fight for. And of course I want to win the World Cup again.”
