Alexis Sanchez needs to be more of a team player and stop acting like a “selfish pig”, according to QPR boss Ian Holloway.
Reports last week indicated that the Chilean was left on the bench for Arsenal’s match with Liverpool for allegedly walking out of a training session following a training ground bust-up.
Arsene Wenger has since denied reports but the future of the forward remains uncertain with only 15 months left on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Sanchez appeared to smirking during the Gunners’ heavy aggregate loss to Bayern Munich on Tuesday and Holloway – who is a former pundit for Sky Sports – thinks Sanchez has been guilty of being “selfish” this season.
“When Alexis Sanchez was brought off a couple of months ago, how selfish was he?” said Holloway.
“Let’s be honest, we’ve all skirted around that. How selfish was he? He put his hood up, he sat there as if it was the end of the world. Do me a favour.
“That ain’t how you should behave when one of your teammates comes on instead of you, after you’ve scored two, you selfish pig!
“It’s just not right. How selfish are you? It’s about your teammate and that’s probably why Arsenal aren’t winning because they might have let a bit of selfishness creep in.
“All the teams in the world might want him but you still have to be a team player, I’m sorry.”
