Liverpool are reportedly growing in confidence that they can land Jack Wilshere on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The England midfielder has enjoyed something of a renaissance at Emirates Stadium this season, but with with his contract due to expire in the summer, he has suddenly found himself a man in demand once again.

With his long-term injury issues seemingly behind him – the player has admitted he had made two serious changes to his lifestyle to aid his fitness  the Gunners do seem happy to extend Wilshere’s contract beyond this season.

However, it is widely reported they have only offered him a reduced deal from his current £90,000-a-week due to his injury-related history.

As such, The Sun say that Liverpool have been in touch with his agent to inform him they will match his current contract if he follows former team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and moves to Merseyside.

The paper reckons Wilshere could be tempted to make the move too, given the way Jurgen Klopp has given Oxlade-Chamberlain’s career a new lease of life by working under the German at Anfield.
