Arsenal suffer injury blow as club reveal star player ruled out until October

Arsenal have revealed that striker Alexandre Lacazette will be out of action until October to help him make a full recovery from an ankle injury.

The Gunners published a statement on their website saying that the Frenchman had been suffering from the injury for a number of weeks and that although he had been happy to play on, the attacker now needs time off to rest.

The full statement read: “After assessments to an ongoing ankle issue, we have advised that Alex will need to rest and strengthen his ankle to regain full fitness.

“Alex has been playing through this injury for several weeks. He is likely to be back in action in October.”

Lacazette had been in impressive form for Arsenal this season before he was sidelined, scoring two goals including one in the 2-2 draw with North London rivals Tottenham.

Arsenal play Watford in the Premier League on Sunday before their Europa League campaign kicks off with a match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
