Arsenal want Dennis Praet as a midfield replacement for Aaron Ramsey, according to a report in Italy.
The Sampdoria midfielder was understood to be a target for the Gunners last summer, and he remains on their radar with Unai Emery keen on the 24-year-old Belgian.
Corriere dello Sport report that Arsenal are still interested in signing Praet for around £17million to partner Lucas Torreira in central midfield.
Praet has previously played alongside Torreira while the latter was with the Serie A side and Emery is apparently keen on reuniting the pair as he prepares to lose Aaron Ramsey.
The Wales midfielder is heading for Juventus this summer on the expiration of his Arsenal contract.
Praet reportedly had a €25million release clause in his deal last summer and attracted interest from the Premier League duo, however a move never materialised.
“I didn’t want to leave,” the former Anderlecht star told Belgian paper Humo.
“I thought something would have changed here, I thought the manager would have given me a new role. I love this club and the president is a special person. He has a great approach with footballers and that’s a huge difference compared to Anderlecht.”
