£23m Arteta target offers cryptic hint over his future
Orkun Kokcu has been non-committal when responding to suggestions that Arsenal are poised to make a £23million bid for his services.
Voetbal International have reported that Arsenal were expected to launch a bid imminently for the creative Feyenoord midfielder.
The paper reported that “Arsenal have opened talks with Feyenoord” for the playmaker and boss of the Dutch club Dick Advocaat later confirmed the Gunners’ interest.
Advocaat told Fox Sports he believed the rumours of Arsenal being interested in Kocku to be “true” but said that as far as he knows Arsenal have not sent anyone to the Netherlands.
“It seems that what I read is true. But no one has yet come to Feyenoord (to make their interest clear),” Advocaat said.
Asked if the player could fit into Mikel Arteta’s side at The Emirates, he said: “I think he fits everywhere.”
Now the player himself has responded by making a change to his Instagram profile biography.
He wrote: “Let them talk.” And followed that with a ‘zipped mouth’ emoji.
The Turkey U21 attacking midfielder has scored two goals and grabbed four assists in 22 Eredivisie games this season and is under contract until 2023.
Former Arsenal midfielder Arteta arrived in late December to breathe new life into the club, but was not afforded the wriggle room some Gunners fans would’ve hoped for in the transfer market.
Just two loan signings were secured in the winter window (Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares), as Arteta was left to wait to make his first permanent signings as manager at The Emirates.
