Arsenal to announce signing of €30m World Cup star in the next week

Arsenal will confirm the signing of a star Serie A midfielder in the next week, according to reports.

The name of Lucas Torreira has been continually linked with Arsenal over the last two weeks, and the deal has been reported as done over the last few days.

The Sampdoria star has had an impressive World Cup so far, playing a vital role for Uruguay as they beat Portugal 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals.

The Mail on Sunday say that Torreira will cost £25m and the 22-year-old will be confirmed as an Arsenal player next week.

After Uruguay’s 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia, Torreira spoke for the first time about his impending move to the Emirates Stadium.

He said: “Arsenal are a good team, one of the most important in the world, but at this moment I am focused on playing for my country.”
