Arsenal boss Unai Emery reportedly wants to make a permanent move for Paris Saint Germain midfielder Christopher Nkunku after failing to land him on loan in January.
Nkunku, 21, was a target for the Gunners in the winter transfer window, but a deal never materialised with his agent claiming the deal was “complicated” but confiemed there was real interest from Arsenal.
Emery knows Nkunku well having brought the player through the youth ranks while he was in charge of the PSG between 2016 and 2018. And the Evening Standard claim Arsenal will submit a £17.2million transfer bid for Nkunku as he looks to bolster his midfield ahead of next season.
The price tag on the player has been a sticking point though with some outlets reporting a fee of €35million will be required to purchase the player who has made 27 appearances this season.
However, with his Parc des Princes deal set to expire in the summer of 2020, PSG could allow him to leave for around €20million this summer if he turns down a contract extension.
It is believed that the player is open to a move, as he looks for increased game time. He has not started in the Champions League, while only 13 of his appearances have been starts in Ligue 1.
Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Rennes are also believed to be keen on the France U21 star.
