Ramadan Sobhi: Exciting young Egyptian talent

Egyptian legend Mido says youngster Ramadan Sobhi can become a ‘better than Marco Arnautovic’ if he was to join Stoke City this summer.

It was reported recently by ESPN that Stoke had made a bid for Al Ahly prodigy and were set to beat out interest from the likes of Arsenal and Roma for the player’s services.

The report also claims that the Gunners did make a bid for the young Egyptian earlier in the year but the move was snubbed.

The Potters will be looking once again to improve their squad over the summer in an attempt to better last season’s campaign.

With Arnautovic’s future at Stoke still unclear, former Spurs and Middlesbrough player Mido told the Sentinel that the Potters could land a better player than the Austrian were they to complete a deal for the young Egyptian.

“Sobhi can be better than Arnautovic,” he said.

“He is one of the best young players I have ever seen. He plays with no fear” he added.

“He is a bit similar to Arnautovic in his style of play. He plays on the left, tucks in and can score goals – and he can also assist a lot of goals.

“He also works hard when he doesn’t have the ball, which is very important in the Premier League.

“He is the best talent in North Africa. Let’s hope it happens because I’m excited to see him playing in the Premier League.”

Currently playing for Al Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League, Sobhi is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Egypt and was able to force his way into the national side when he was just 17.

Although the Egyptian side are reluctant to sell such a key asset, a move to Europe maybe difficult for the attacking midfielder to resist.
