Arsenal told in no uncertain terms that January target will not be sold

Mikel Arteta Arsenal TEAMtalk

Norwich boss Daniel Farke has insisted Arsenal target Emi Buendia will not be leaving the club during the current transfer window.

Argentinian midfielder Buendia, 24, has been in fine form this season as the Canaries bid to bounce straight back to the Premier League.

“Nothing will happen with Emi Buendia this month,” Farke said before Wednesday’s home clash with Bristol City.

“In this business you can’t confirm something with 100 per cent guarantee, but I’d label it 99 per cent.

“If I judge it in an objective way, it makes no sense for any of my players to leave at this moment and it makes no sense for the club to sell our players in January.”

Norwich, who have completed the signing of Greece defender Dimitris Giannoulis from PAOK, are top of the table after winning seven of their last nine league games.

However, there is plenty of interest in the 24-year-old and Edu says the Gunners could cut short his stay.

“The situation is very simple. Arsenal are concerned about Torreira, his happiness, that he plays and that he is well,” Edu told AS
