Arsenal, Tottenham’s hopes over €180m Barcelona star nosedive

Malcom TEAMtalk

Arsenal and Tottenham’s hope of getting their hands on Malcom in January have taken a nosedive.

Earlier on Wednesday Mundo Deportivo reported that Malcom, who has a €180million release clause, had asked to leave in January because of his lack of first-team action.

Barcelona successfully beat Roma to the uncapped Brazilian in the summer with Barca forking out £36million for the forward.

Malcom though has seen very little action under Ernesto Valverde since arriving at the Nou Camp – in fact he has managed just 25 minutes in total.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Fulham were also linked with an ambitious bid for the 21-year-old in the summer, but the former Bordeaux man says he will “continue fighting’” to succeed at the Nou Camp.

“About news that came out here in Spain, I want to clarify this: I came to Barcelona with many objectives, and those who know me know that I am a very determined person,” he wrote on his Instagram.

“I am very happy with the evolution in my career and I know and every day that passes my dreams and objectives are becoming a reality. My family is also adapted to the city.

“Anyway, I’m going to continue to fighting for everything I want in my career.”
