Exciting new name in frame as Arsenal line up Bellerin replacement

Tyler Adams USA v Mexico TEAMtalk

Arsenal are very interested in landing RB Leipzig full-back Tyler Adams as a long-term replacement for Hector Bellerin, according to a report.

Bellerin is earmarked for the Arsenal exit door this summer and Mikel Arteta is working on a replacement. And, according to The Athletic, the Gunners are USA right-back Adams.

The 22-year-old 14-cap Adams can play at right-back or holding midfield and that is said to appeal to Arteta. Adams though will not be easy to obtain from the German side.

He is under contract until 2025 and and the Bundesliga side are said to be desperate to keep hold of the New Yorker. They have already sold  Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate and want to keep some stability to their side.

Adams made 21 starts from 27 Bundesliga appearances this season and is one of the USA national team’s bright young stars.

He could well be the direct replacement for Bellerin, if they can lure the player away from Germany. Adams signed from New York Red Bulls in January 2019 until 2023. He penned a two-year extension in March 2020 after impressing Leipzig and they will fight to keep him.

Arteta though may well be able to lure the USMNT star to the Premier League to join his team-mate Christian Pulisic.

Bellerin likely to leave Arsenal

The right-back faded out of Arteta’s plans towards the end of the season. In fact Bellerin has made only three league appearances since Arsenal were beaten by Manchester City on February 21.

It’s been reported Bellerin is seeking a fresh challenge this summer. And Arteta is not expected to stand in the way of the former Barcelona man.

Bellerin has been at The Emirates since 2011, coming up through the youth ranks before making his senior debut. The Barcelona-born ace has made 239 appearances in all competitions, featuring 25 times in the league last season.

James Benge from CBS Sports recently claimed that Arsenal have placed a £20m price tag on Bellerin.
