Arsenal could turn to Real Madrid starlet in January to help save season
Arsenal could swoop for Real Madrid starlet Vinicius Junior in January, according to a report.
The Gunners are currently enduring one of their worst campaigns in recent memory, and need something to change soon if they are to get back anywhere near where they belong.
The January transfer window could give them an opportunity to do that. They may have the chance to change some aspects of their squad.
Funds may not allow them to make a major signing, but they could still explore cheaper options. And if they can agree on the right formula, they could still attract some big players.
According to the Daily Star, one option Arsenal could pursue is Vinicius.
Arsenal were in the market for Vinicius back when Unai Emery was in charge. The report claims they still have a good relationship with the player’s agent.
That could give them the chance to sign him on loan in January. Vinicius has three goals and two assists so far this season, but Madrid think he should be contributing more after how much they paid for him in 2018.
Therefore, they could send the 20-year-old out on loan to further his development. Arsenal may be a willing suitor to take him.
Back in October, there were rumours that one of his teammates had instructed others not to pass to him. The footage raised concerns about Vinicius’ immediate prospects at the Bernabeu.
Hence, he may need a fresh start elsewhere to prove himself again before returning to the Spanish capital.
Isco unlikely to make same move
Arsenal already have Dani Ceballos on loan from Madrid, and the Star remind that they had been considering a bid for Isco as well.
However, the latter only wants to join a club competing in the Champions League. Instead, he seems more likely to join Italian champions Juventus.
But Arsenal remain in the hunt for Vinicius if these reports are to be believed.
Mikel Arteta is keen to add more creativity to his squad in the winter transfer window. They have failed to score more than one goal in their past 10 Premier League games, only winning one of them.
Therefore, they need some inspiration up front to help create things – and Vinicius could fill that void for the time being until they can explore a more permanent option.
