Eddie Nketiah, Alexandre Lacazette Arsenal substitution TEAMtalk

Arsenal could sell strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah this summer, it is claimed.

Both Lacazette and Nketiah are out of contract in 2022. That means they could walk away for free by then if Arsenal do not get them to commit to new terms.

The two players remain highly rated. Lacazette has scored eight goals from 20 appearances in the Premier League this season.

As for Nketiah, chances have been limited, but the fact he is England under-21s’ all-time record scorer shows his potential.

However, he may have to fulfil that potential away from the Emirates Stadium, as both he and Lacazette could leave.

According to Football.London, Arsenal are open to letting both strikers leave in the summer. They would presumably rather receive transfer fees for the duo after letting several players leave for nothing in recent years.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s recent resurgence in a central striking role may have helped convince Arsenal that they can move on from their other options.

Hence, Lacazette and Nketiah could be on the market again. The former was a target for Atletico Madrid in the summer, but no transfer materialised.

Meanwhile, Nketiah was linked with West Ham in January before Mikel Arteta blocked the move.

It is not yet clear which clubs may want either of the pair in the summer. They are likely to have a number of suitors if available for the right price, though.

Arteta ‘doesn’t believe’ in Lacazette

Earlier this week, former Arsenal youth product Andy Cole claimed that Arteta has lost faith in Lacazette.

“Look at Lacazette and I’m disappointed for him because I don’t think Arteta believes in him,” Cole told talkSPORT.

“He’s looking at Aubameyang coming back in after two games on the bench, gets himself a hat-trick. He’ll be saying to himself, ‘that could have been me’.”
