Arsenal learn of big nosedive in fee for midfielder adding key string to bow

The representatives of Arsenal-linked Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu have reportedly begun telling Europe’s top clubs of a big drop in their client’s transfer fee.

Arsenal initially showed interest in the 20-year-old in the winter transfer window of 2020. Indeed, Feyenoord manager Dick Advocaat revealed later on that those links were true. However, more clubs – including Tottenham – have supposedly joined the race for the player since then.

The Turkey international previously had a value of €25million (£21.7million). That was last season, when – according to Calciomercatothe Gunners sat in pole position for his signature.

According to the Italian source, though, Kokcu’s fee has now plummeted.

The report does not state his new exit fee, but reveals that the figure has ‘dropped significantly’.

That is despite Kokcu continuing to perform excellently for Feyenoord and his contract having four years left to run.

Calciomercato adds that the player has taken on an exciting new role this term to add to his repertoire.

While he plays as a central midfielder by trade, Advocaat has helped him develop the defensive side of his game this term.
