Arsenal working on £120m swoop for four top Wenger targets

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly handed the club the list of four big-name players to bring to the Gunners this summer.

The Gunners boss, fresh from bringing in Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the club in January, has already earmarked four more stars he wants to sign this summer, with reports at the weekend suggesting talks were already underway.

According to The Sun, Wenger has joined the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign £50million-rated RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

The prolific frontman looks set to leave the Bundesliga side this summer and it’s believed Arsenal are looking to strike a deal before the World Cup begins.

The 10-times capped striker has this week rejected the chance to extend his contract at the Red Bull Arena and a summer departure now looks inevitable.

The club’s director of football Ralf Rangnick, however, has denied suggestions that the player wants to leave the club and insists there is no need for Leipzig to panic.

“There is nothing to be worried about. Timo is one of our best players and his contract runs through 2020. There is still plenty of time to talk, we are in no rush”, he said.

The Gunners are also closing in on the signings of £45m-rated Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir and Jonny Evans of West Brom this summer, if reports in the Daily Mail are to be believed.

The paper claims Fekir has emerged as one of Wenger’s top targets this summer and is prepared to meet the £45million asking price on his head.

However, should a deal for Fekir fail, it’s believed Wenger has told the board that a deal for Schalke’s Max Meyer – who will be available on a free transfer this summer – also would be shrewd business.

Evans, meanwhile, was strongly linked with a move to Manchester City and Arsenal during the January transfer window. City, however, opted to move for Aymeric Laporte – the young Frenchman becoming their record signing – while the Gunners saw a last-ditch bid for Evans rejected by the Baggies.

However, with West Brom flirting with relegation, their exit from the Premier League would lead to a certain departure of their club captain, and the Mail claims Wenger is confident a £25m deal will be done at the end of the season.
