Arsenal will address a move for Velez Sarsfield winger Thiago Almada in January at the request of manager Mikel Arteta, according to a report.
Indeed there are several clubs – which the report does not name- in the race for Almada that Arsenal must beat.
Arsenal were linked with the Argentina Under-20 international earlier this year, before Manchester United and Manchester City registered interest.
The most recent reports, though, claimed that Leeds were keen on a swoop. But with the transfer window now closed, the Whites opted instead to bring in Raphinha from Rennes on deadline day.
Nevertheless, the latest report from Todofichajes claims that Arsenal have maintained contact with Almada’s club.
As such, the chance of a deal for the winger in the winter window remains a possibility.
Sarsfield rate Almada, who has one goal in seven caps for his country, at €20million (£18million).
However previous speculation claimed that the attacker’s release clause has now increased to £22.8m. Almada has three years left on his current deal in Argentina.
He has scored nine goals and assisted four others in 46 career appearances in all competitions.
Almada would add to hefty Arsenal options
Arsenal added to their attack in the recent transfer window with the signing of Willian from Chelsea.
Indeed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s new contract is as good as a new addition, given his stunning goals record. The Gabonese has scored 72 goals in 114 games, including two in five games this term.
Arteta also has Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette and England Under-21 star Eddie Nketiah at his disposal.
The Gunners have made a bright start to the season, with three wins from four games in the Premier League.
