Asking price revealed as Tottenham eye bid for tallest player in Bundesliga

Tottenham are exploring a possible deal for Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, according to reports.

Spurs are currently sweating over the future of star striker Harry Kane. In addition, there are also doubts about whether they will sign his backup, Carlos Vinicius, permanently after his loan spell. Therefore, they could require reinforcements.

According to Eurosport, one player they are monitoring is Kalajdzic. The tall striker averages a goal every other game with 15 from 30 in all competitions this season.

It has been an impressive debut season in the German top flight for the Austria international. It seems he is capable of joining a bigger club.

Tottenham could be the ones to take advantage. The 6’5″ striker has an interesting profile as the tallest player in the Bundesliga but is more than just a target man.

Hence, Eurosport claim that Tottenham have been tracking him. They want to find out how much it might cost to sign him.

The answer is in the region of £15m. That seems an affordable sum – especially if they raise plenty of funds by selling Kane.

Daniel Levy has little intention of doing that, though. The Spurs chief wants to keep hold of his best player despite the England captain considering a move away.

Harry Kane would like move, but Spurs exit unlikely

The Athletic's David Ornstein says Harry Kane would like to leave Tottenham but a transfer is unlikely to happen due to the high transfer fee which would be involved in any deal.

Hence, it seems they view Kalajdzic as a potential rotation option to Kane. That would indicate that Vinicius’ days with the club are numbered.

The on-loan Benfica man has done reasonably well in the Europa League but opportunities have been limited in the Premier League. Therefore, Spurs were reluctant to pay his full option to buy. And now, they may walk away from a deal altogether.

Kalajdzic could be his replacement, although Spurs are not the only suitors for the Austrian. Premier League rivals West Ham are also in pursuit having failed to replace Sebastien Haller in January.

The Hammers vowed to be patient in their search for a new centre-forward but Kalajdzic might be the right man for the job.

Elsewhere in mainland Europe, Roma and RB Leipzig have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.

Tottenham plans take shape

Kalajdzic is not Spurs’ only idea, with Danny Ings also under consideration. The former Liverpool striker has flourished with Southampton and now wants a bigger challenge again.

However, Eurosport warn that such a path may be cooling. Therefore, Spurs may have to look elsewhere – with Kalajdzic now on their radar.

He could be an option for whoever takes charge of Tottenham next season, amid doubts over Jose Mourinho. However, Eurosport add that the manager’s position is safe for now.

Levy retains faith in the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager. Adding a player like Kalajdzic to his squad may give him an extra boost.

They are also looking towards their backline, which Mourinho has not been satisfied with this season. The report confirms that Fulham loanee Joachim Andersen is a genuine option.

The defender has been on Spurs’ radar ever since his move to Lyon. His performances on loan in the Premier League have convinced them further and they may make a move.

It seems Spurs’ plans are beginning to take shape.
