Aston Villa are considering a move for Liverpool striker Divock Origi to bolster their attack ahead of the new Premier League season, according to a report.

Villa claimed eight points from their final four games to survive, with Watford replacing them in the bottom three.

Trezeguet’s three goals in that run proved crucial, but the winger only scored three more throughout the campaign.

What’s more, captain Jack Grealish top-scored with 10, while Wesley – with six goals – was their highest-scoring striker.

Therefore, The Sun claims Villa boss Dean Smith is well aware of the need to find more goals.

One option he is considering is Belgium international Origi, who is firmly behind Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in the Reds’ attacking pecking order.

Despite making 44 appearances this season, most of those came off the bench. Indeed, he has a penchant for crucial contributions as a substitute, including in the 2018/19 Champions League campaign.

However, the newspaper says Origi knows he needs regular game time to boost his bid for Euro 2021 game time.

Further reports have claimed the 25-year-old is on a list of fringe players Klopp is thinking about selling ahead of next season. In fact, Origi is top of the list with Xherdan Shaqiri also facing an uncertain future.

Liverpool have already taken concrete steps to raise funds. Defender Dejan Lovren is reportedly close to joining Russian side Zenit St Petersburg.

Further sales could be the way forward for the Reds in their bid to raise funds. The speculation comes amid claims Klopp wants to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
