Norwich City are expecting multiple bids for Max Aarons this summer and have reportedly placed a hefty price tag on the defender.
Aarons, has started all 38 of the Canaries’ Championship games this season. And the talented right-back has helped Norwich to the verge of promotion back to the Premier League.
The East Anglian outfit sit top of the table, with a 14-point advantage over third-placed Swansea City. An immediate return to the top flight seems inevitable.
But it may be that Aarons would have been playing there regardless of Norwich’s progress this term.
The Hammersmith-born ace played every minute of the club’s 36 Premier League games in 2019-2020. He was a standout player as they suffered relegation.
But he will not come cheap for any interested club. According to the Telegraph (via EDP), the second-tier pacesetters want £30m for his services.
And it seems as though there is interest from abroad as well. Italian duo Roma and AC Milan have also been linked with a player tipped for the top.
The club’s head of football development Steve Weaver certainly thinks so. In a recent interview with Coaches Voice, he was gushing in his praise of the youngster.
“I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Max Aarons was playing Champions League football next year,” he said. “I’m not sure there’s a ceiling for him. There hasn’t been a single part of his journey so far where he hasn’t been in control or looked completely comfortable.”
Aarons in demand
German giants Bayern Munich are said to hold an interest in Aarons. Everton are also thought to be keen and it may be there is a bidding way for the starlet in the off-season.
Norwich are certainly bracing themselves for an onslaught of interest. They managed to stave off possible suitors last summer but Weaver knows what is coming.
“We have to be ready for a big bid to come in for him,” he added. “It’s no surprise to us he’s being talked about as a potential signing for some of the biggest clubs around.”
Aarons will next be in action when Daniel Farke takes his men to Deepdale to face Preston North End on Friday.
They drew with Blackburn Rovers last time out while Preston have lost four of their last five.
