Aston Villa can complete signing of the summer with Liverpool-linked PSG star available for shockingly low price
Aston Villa could complete one of the best transfers in recent years after a report revealed Paris Saint-Germain are willing to sell a player for way less than his actual value.
Both Villa and PSG will make some big changes to their squads this summer, but for very different reasons. Villa are hoping to continue on their upward trajectory under managerial sensation Unai Emery and this means backing him with some major captures.
Despite the incredible form of striker Ollie Watkins, Emery feels the Englishman needs more support and is therefore hoping Villa can win the race for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele. He will be available on a free transfer this summer after deciding against renewing his contract with the French club.
Emery has also instructed Villa to get in the race for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams. Although, the West Midlands side will have to fend off Newcastle to sign him.
PSG, meanwhile, could part ways with both Lionel Messi and Neymar later this year. They want to move away from signing the biggest names in football and instead bring in a host of young French talent.
Messi and Neymar are not the only players who could leave the French capital. According to the latest information from Italian source Milan Live, PSG have decided to sell midfielder Renato Sanches.
The 25-year-old was hoping to make a big impact at PSG after swapping Lille for them last summer. However, he has only managed 23 appearances in all competitions as a result of injuries and fierce competition for the midfield places.
Milan Live reveal that PSG ‘are not convinced’ by Sanches and have therefore decided to ‘get rid’ in the upcoming transfer window.
Aston Villa tipped to sign PSG man
Surprisingly, Villa could be the team to capitalise on PSG’s exit stance. Emery’s side have apparently been alerted to the situation and are preparing to swoop in.
And it could end up being one of the best transfers of the year from Villa if they get the Portugal international for the cut-price fee that has been talked up.
While transfermarkt value the Portuguese at €20m (£17.3m), it is claimed PSG have put him up for sale at just €10m (£8.7m).
There is some risk involved with Villa signing Sanches. After all, he is low on confidence following a tough season in France. Plus, there is a chance he could get injured if he moves to Villa as his recent fitness record has not been great.
However, this is a player who has previously represented Bayern Munich and Benfica, while he also excelled at Lille last season.
Emery will fancy his chances of getting the best out of the 32-cap international, potentially transforming him into one of the best midfielders in the Prem.
Another reason why Villa must take up this opportunity is that Liverpool have looked at Sanches to solve their midfield issues. In late April, Football Insider revealed how Liverpool had been ‘alerted’ to the possibility of signing Sanches from PSG.
Liverpool have, for the most part, been excellent with their signings under Klopp. And them being linked with Sanches shows just how highly rated he is, with Villa now able to benefit.
However, it must be noted that Villa are not the only club chasing the Ligue 1 man right now. Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are also keeping tabs on developments, which should set up an intriguing transfer battle.
Meanwhile, Villa have discovered a Barcelona attacker is ‘open’ to a Premier League move this summer.
