Aston Villa are ready to bolster their attacking ranks further by launching an €18m bid for a Bundesliga forward, according to reports from Germany.
Dean Smith’s side narrowly avoided relegation last term, and identified boosting their goalscoring prowess as a key priority.
The club’s reliance on Jack Grealish for both assists and goals was evident throughout the campaign. As such, the club have already made strides toward rectifying that dependency.
Villa recently pulled off a coup when capturing impressive Championship standout Ollie Watkins for an initial £28m.
Werder Bremen forward Milot Rashica is set to be targeted with an €18m bid.
Rashica, 24, was previously listed as a possible target on a shortlist of striking options.
A deal would appear to be there if Villa push through with their interest. Goal note that Bremen are ‘keen’ to free up funds for their own summer business via Rashica’s sale.
The Kosovo international has notched 17 goals and 12 assists over the last two Bundesliga seasons. However, he is currently sidelined with a knee issue.
Drinkwater opens up on Villa headbutt
Meanwhile, Danny Drinkwater has opened up on the personal problems that led him to be caught drink driving, end up in a fight on a night out and even headbutt a team-mate.
The Chelsea outcast insists he is ready to put his stalled career back on track by seeking a move abroad.
Former England midfielder Drinkwater joined Chelsea from Leicester in a £35million move in 2017, but has never settled with Chelsea.
The 30-year-old was banned from driving for two years in May 2019 and even headbutted team-mate Jota in a loan spell at Aston Villa earlier this year.
“It is a trust thing, for me. I’m definitely a closed book and that’s extended through most of my life, not just football,” Drinkwater told The Telegraph.
