Atletico Madrid are reportedly ready to launch a fresh bid to sign Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso in the next transfer window.
The Spanish side failed to finalise a move tried to sign the left-back in 2019, despite Alonso wanting to join them.
At the time, his lack of game time under Maurizio Sarri left the left-back wanting to leave West London.
However, the Premier League reportedly priced Atletico out of a deal by demanding around €40million.
Therefore, Alonso stayed at Stamford Bridge but has played a bit part role, making just 20 appearances this season.
The London club are now ready to part ways with the 29-year-old, who has over three years left on his contract.
Having already lost his place, Chelsea’s interest in signing Ben Chilwell has spelled the end for his Blues career.
ATLETICO BACK IN FOR THE CHELSEA MAN?
A report on TodoFichajes claims Atletico will renew their interest in Alonso after learning of his availability.
It is convenient timing for Diego Simeone, who needs another left-back to support Renan Lodi.
Centre back Mario Hermoso has occasionally provided back up, but Atletico want a recognised left-back.
And they believe they could secure Alonso for no more than €12million, with the player providing vital experience.
However, they will face competition for his signature from a number of other interested European clubs.
Bayern Munich, Juventus and Inter Milan are just some of the teams considering offers.
