Atletico Madrid have scouted Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Timo Werner, according to Bild.
RB Leipzig striker Werner has come to the attention of several of Europe’s top teams after scoring 14 goals this term on the back of a 21-goal haul last term.
The 21-year-old has scored a remarkable seven goals in 10 games for Germany and Liverpool and Real have been credited with an interest in him.
Aletico may well be at the front of the queue for the striker after German publication Bild claimed Atletico watched him in action during RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win at home to Augsburg last Friday.
Diego Simeone may well lose Antoine Griezmann in the summer and Atletico may well see Werner as a replacement.
Leizpig though are keen to keep hold of the player and Leipzig sporting director Ralf Ragnick said earlier this week that Werner will not be leaving any time soon.
“Timo definitely knows he is still playing with us now and next season,” he told Kicker.
“We are also in talks to adjust and extend his contract.”
Werner is under contract until June 2020, but has voiced his previously hopes about playing in the Premier League. Last March he admitted playing for Liverpool would be “special”.
