Atletico refer to ‘very talented striker’ as Morata seals loan move

Atletico Madrid have completed a deal for Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata on an 18-month loan.

The Spain striker completed a medical on Sunday and has signed for the LaLiga side ending a wretched spell at Stamford Bridge.

“I’m very happy and proud to be here. I can’t wait to start training, meet my new teammates and play,” Morata told the club’s website.

The 26-year-old scored 24 goals in 72 appearances for Chelsea since arriving from Real Madrid.

“With Morata’s arrival, we add a very talented striker to our club, who has the ability to score with his feet and his head thanks to his height (189 cm) and to combine with his teammates,” read Atletico’s website.

Morata moved to Stamford Bridge in a €65million deal last summer but has not adapted well to life in the Premier League and as soon as Gonzalo Higuain completed his loan switch the writing was on the wall for Morata.
