Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey needs to test himself in another county, according to his Ghana team-mate Joseph Larweh Attamah.

Attamah is not the first Ghanaian to speak about Partey’s future with Kasim Nuhu and Edwin Gyasi both calling for Partey to move from Atletico Madrid to the Premier League.

Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague gave an update on the future of the midfielder on his YouTube channel last week. According to the Spanish journalist, Partey is not going to sign a new deal at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The 26-year-old has been linked with Arsenal and his agent has reportedly put plenty of clubs on alert, with the player himself picking Arsenal as his chosen destination, claimed The Telegraph.

Partey, who is under contract in Madrid until 2023, has apparently told friends he wants to join Mikel Arteta’s side, but Atletico are keen for him to pen a new deal, and most probably increase his buyout clause, which currently stands at €50m.

“I would be happy if he goes to Arsenal. He’s done everything at Atletico, and is recognised as one of the world’s best midfielders,” Attamah told Ghanaian outlet Citi TV, reported via Mundo Deportivo.

“He has to go to another league to prove himself. He needs people to know he is capable of succeeding outside of Spain.”

Arsenal boss Arteta is understood to be interested in signing Partey, however, his price tag might be out of reach, especially if the club misses out on European qualification.
