Aubameyang takes exception to Dortmund chief and hits back

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang TEAMtalk

Arsenal forward Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has hit back at claims from Borussia Dortmund chief executive officer that he moved to Arsenal for the money.

Aubameyang moved to Arsenal from Dortmund for a club-record £56m in January 2018 and the Gabon striker has been a revelation for Unai Emery.

The 30-year-old has hit eight goals this term on the back of 31 goals last season, while his time in Germany heralded 141 goals in 213 appearances.

However, his record did not stop Watzke taking a swipe at Aubameyang.

Watzke told Suddeutsche Zeitung: “Of course it is hard to keep a player in the face of such sums. Some go to clubs because of this money, where they have not played Champions League for years.

“[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, who plays great at Arsenal, will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television.”

But the Gunners forward has take exception to the comments and labelled the Dortmund money man a clown and claimed “better for you I never talk about why I really left Dortmund”.

His tweet read: “Better for you I never talk about why I really left Dortmund Mr Watzke you such a clown.

“I remember that time you said we never gonna sell Ousmane then you saw more than 100M you were the first to take that money.

“Don’t talk about money please!!! Leave me alone pls.”
