Cesar Azpilicueta: Linked with move to Man Utd recently

Cesar Azpilicueta has rubbished suggestions he is on his way to Manchester United this summer – and insists he intends to stay at Chelsea where he feels “valued”.

Reports in Spanish newspaper AS claimed that United, along with PSG and Atletico Bilbao, were all interested in the full-back.

The report also added that incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was willing to sell the player for a fee of around £11.8million.

However speaking to Spanish radio station, Cadena Ser, the 26-year-old was asked about whether a reunion with Mourinho at Old Trafford was on the cards.

“No. [You can] Believe me or not.” But then added that he had ‘heard something’ regarding their interest.

He was then asked about the interest from Bilbao and added:

“It’s always a compliment that you are wanted, I’ve heard highly about Valverde [Bilbao’s manager], but I’m focused on the national team and Chelsea, I’ve been there for four years, I am very happy and I feel highly valued.”

Former Osasuna defender Azpilicueta joined the Blues for a £7million fee from Marseille in 2012.

The Spain international has gone to make 121 appearances for Chelsea, becoming one of the Blues’ most reliable players and playing a key role in their Premier League title triumph and the League Cup success during the 2014/15 campaign.
