Baggies leave it late~to go top

It looked like the Baggies would suffer an FA Cup hangover with Ben Burgess’ header giving Blackpool the half-time lead. Burgess glanced the ball into the bottom corner from Stephen Crainey’s right-wing free-kick after he had been fouled by Paul Robinson 10 minutes before the break.

Kevin Phillips equalised from the penalty spot with nine minutes remaining after Crainey had fouled Carl Hoefkens. It was Albion’s 100th goal in all competitions this season.

Three minutes later, Phillips was on hand to tap the ball home from close range after Paul Rachubka had parried Ishmael Miller’s effort.

And Miller made sure of the points in the 87th minute when he lobbed the ball over Rachubka from 12 yards out.
