Bale stance made clear to Tottenham if Real Madrid sack Zidane

Gareth Bale

Real Madrid will reportedly not be able to recall Gareth Bale from his loan spell at Tottenham this season if they make the decision to sack Zinedine Zidane.

Reports from Spain state that the LaLiga giants are considering axing the Frenchman following the Champions League defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 2-0 loss in Ukraine has left Madrid’s hopes of progressing to the last-16 hanging in the balance.

Spanish outlet El Mundo reports that Real president Florentino Perez is weighing up sacking Zidane. The Bernabeu outfit have lost three of their last five matches in all competitions.

Should Zidane’s second stint as Real boss end, that would seemingly open the door for Bale’s potential return.

The Wales star completely fell out with Zidane, which prompted his return to north London on loan.

Real are expected to focus on former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and club legend Raul as Zidane replacements.

But according to football.london, a return to Spain for Bale is not on the cards this season.

They report that Madrid inserted a no recall clause in the deal that saw Bale return to Tottenham.

Indeed, Spurs also have the opportunity to extend the 31-year-old’s loan deal by a further season next summer if he impresses Jose Mourinho enough.

At this stage that option remains up in the air. Bale has scored just once in seven apppearances as he continue to work on his fitness levels.

Bale a shadow of his former self

Gareth Bale is no longer the player he was and Tottenham will never see again the player once of before, according to Darren Bent.

Bent thinks Bale is already running out of time to prove his worth to Spurs.

“It’s a gradual process but at the same time it’s a year loan,” Bent told talkSPORT. “For me, the question you’ve got to ask is how long is Jose Mourinho prepared to give him before he goes ‘this is not working’.

“All the talk has been about [Heung-min] Son and [Harry] Kane being superb. But when they get Bale back, when Bale gets back to himself, Bale this and Bale that. But right now he’s nowhere near the Bale we can remember.

“He’s not played consistently for about three years and he’s had big injuries as well. That Bale may never come back.” Read more…
