Bale representative responds to Man City links with two-word verdict
Reports linking Gareth Bale with a move to Manchester City have been labelled “complete rubbish” by one of the Welshman’s representatives, according to a report.
Sky Sports previously claimed that Real Madrid were keen on offering Bale as well as £70m in an effort to bring Raheem Sterling to the Spanish capital, having failed to do so earlier this year.
Speaking on talkSPORT, however, host Jim White opened up on the inside track he had received on the rumour, reading out a text that was sent to him by a source close to Bale.
“With regards to that story running on Bale, Raheem Sterling and £70m – complete rubbish,” the message read.
The report from Sky Sports indicated, however, that City boss Pep Guardiola is not keen on the prospect of bringing Bale to the Etihad.
The 30-year-old has struggled for form, partly due to his fractious relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane but also through persistent injury problems.
In more pressing matters for Guardiola, his side sit six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool heading into Sunday’s clash between the two sides at Anfield.
