Sevilla sporting director Joaquin Capaross has insisted in-demand Steven N’Zonzi is going nowhere after months over his future at the Los Hispalenses.

Over the summer N’Zonzi has been linked with moves to Barcelona, Juventus, Arsenal and Roma despite having a €40million release clause and two years remaining on his contract.

N’Zonzi’s future at the club has looked anything but secure with a number of moves over Europe being touted for the World Cup winner.

But all that seems to have changed now after Sevilla’s sporting director Joaquin Caparros told Sevilla’s website, “He has to arrive [Wednesday] to undergo a medical check up.

“There is no other news. He will return to training with his team-mates.”

This will come as disappointing news for Arsenal fans as they hoped that Unai Emery looked likely to sign one of his favourite players. But the clubs remained locked in talks and Arsenal refused to meet the €40million release clause.

According to Mundo Deportivo last month, the 29-year-old was destined to leave Spain and he was reported to be top of Emery’s wanted list.

Emery though was coy when asked about a potential reunion with N’Zonzi in July: “I know him but we haven’t made a move for him.”
