Barcelona have confirmed that former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho will be out for up to three weeks with a thigh problem.
Coutinho will join Lionel Messi on the sidelines at the Camp Nou, although the Argentinian is closing in on a return to action after recovering from an arm injury.
The Brazil forward picked up a problem in the 1-1 draw with Inter on Tuesday, but Mundo Deportivo claimed he was only likely to miss just one game.
The club though have now confirmed Coutinho will miss the international break, the game with Real Betis this weekend and possibly matches against Atletico Madrid and PSV.
The club’s official website reads: “Tests carried out this morning confirmed Coutinho had a small tear to the biceps femoris muscle in his left leg.
“His approximate recovery time will be 2-3 weeks.”
Coutinho, who moved to Barca from Liverpool for £146million last January, has scored five goals and made four assists in 16 appearances this season.
