Barcelona pondering shock move for former superstar pining for a return

Spanish giants Barcelona are apparently considering re-singing former star player Dani Alves to bolster their side, per a report.

Alves, who is the single most successful player in the history of men’s football, is currently a free agent. The Brazilian played 391 games for Barcelona, and enjoyed the most successful period of his career with the side.

Since leaving Spain, Alves has played for Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Sao Paulo. Leaving the latter in 2021, thus becoming a free agent.

The 38-year-old has been linked with a move to Spain of late, with Atletico Madrid offered his services, per The Hard Tackle.

Though there is fresh speculation that Alves wants to return to Barcelona.

The Brazilian was seen at Camp Nou recently. Furthermore, he has apparently expressed a desire to return to the club, per the report.

According to journalist Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona are considering the possibility of bringing Alves back to the club.

The club are currently seventh in La Liga, and are enduring one of the worst periods in the club’s history for a long time. As such, having a proven winner return to the side seems a good idea.

Barcelona of course have financial problems on their mind when looking at fresh signings. However, they are pondering apparently considering a move for Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic.

Having featured only in a fringe role this season, it seems a move away from United could happen.

Barcelona feel as if they could land the midfielder for less than £10million, with his contract running down.

The club also feel as if they could afford Matic’s wages, and as such a move could work out for the side.
