Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are both unhappy with their lack of gametime at Chelsea since Thomas Tuchel arrived, according to a report.
Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as Chelsea manager last month and has had an immediate impact. The Blues are currently on a five-game winning run, with Tuchel yet to taste defeat in the Stamford Bridge hotseat.
Summer signing Ziyech, who joined from Ajax, has not started a game in the Premier League since Tuchel’s first match, a 0-0 draw with Wolves in January. This is not the first time a report has claimed he is unhappy with his situation.
Meanwhile, Pulisic has not started at all in the league under Tuchel. That has been somewhat surprising, as the German coach gave the winger his first taste of senior football at Borussia Dortmund.
He has shown less faith in the American so far at Chelsea, though. It has led one notorious Spanish outlet to make a big claim about his and Ziyech’s futures.
According to Don Balon, both players have become “expendable” and could ask to leave in the summer.
The Spanish source claims La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona would be alert to any potential opportunities to sign the duo.
Madrid and Barca reportedly believe they could sign Ziyech or Pulisic for a “reasonable price”. Both are at a good age to invest in as well.
Whether Chelsea really would consider selling two recent investments who have shown their quality before remains to be seen.
Either way, they will be hoping for more gametime in the final stretch of the season.
Other benefitting under Tuchel
While things have not been easy for Ziyech and Pulisic under Tuchel so far, the manager is having a more positive impact on some of their teammates.
For example, defender Andreas Christensen has found a bigger role in recent weeks.
Speaking after his latest appearance earlier this week, the Denmark international explained how Tuchel has instilled more confidence at Chelsea as a whole.
“We had a little dip. But I think when the group came together we had one goal,” Christensen told Chelsea’s official website.
“It is not just aiming for top three or top four whatever. We just wanted to get back on track and we knew if we did that anything was possible.
“At the moment we are getting the wins. We might not play beautiful football for 90 minutes, but we are getting there.
“I have played four games in a row now, it has been a while since I have done that.”
