Barcelona, Real Madrid battle for £42m Premier League target
Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly set to battle for PSV star Hirving Lozano.
Don Balon claims Barca have been following the 23-year-old for some time, and could try and sign the player in January or next summer if Ousmane Dembele flatters to deceive again this season.
The Spanish outlet also claim Madrid could also make an offer for the Mexican star in January.
New boss Julen Lopetegui has confirmed that Real Madrid will not sign a player on transfer deadline day.
Real have signed Mariano and he will be their final arrival in August.
“Now with Mariano, the Real squad is closed,” he told reporters.
“Just Mayoral could leave on loan. He needs to leave to fight for minutes. We respect him. Once Mariano is in the squad, he feels he’s going to have less minutes.”
Arsenal, Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool all joined both Manchester clubs in taking a keen interest in the forward
Mexico manager Juan Carlos Osorio approved any potential move to England.
“Since he moved to PSV Eindhoven, I think he has made the next step up,” Osorio told Sky Sports News. “He’s an unbelievable prospect.
“I think he will be able to – and he has the tools to play – in the Premier League.”
A report from Mexican outlet Super Deportivo back in December claimed Lozano’s price tag would be around £42m.
