Barnsley v Rochdale preview

Barnsley striker Sam Winnall will return to contention for the home game against Rochdale.

Winnall missed last week’s defeat at Bradford due to a hamstring strain but is pushing to return to the starting line-up.

Defender George Smith has also shaken off a hamstring problem and is hoping to be included in head coach Lee Johnson’s plans.

Johnson has no new injury or suspension worries, while young striker George Maris is hoping to feature again after making his debut off the bench last week.

Rochdale boss Keith Hill has no selection issues but will still be without midfielders Matty Lund and Stephen Dawson.

Lund is suspended following his recent dismissal at Gillingham and Dawson is sidelined due to a knee injury.

Second-year scholars Nyal Bell, Billy Hasler-Cregg and James Hooper will all be hoping to be included in Hill’s squad after being handed their first professional contracts this week.

Strikers Joe Bunney and Calvin Andrew, midfielder Reuben Noble-Lazarus and defender Ashley Eastham are among those pushing for recalls.
