Bayern Munich will not be signing Croatia World Cup star Ante Rebic, according to their coach Niko Kovac.
The Frankfurt forward has also been linked with Manchester United and the way looks clear for Jose Mourinho to make a move.
Tuttosport claimed last month that United had launched a £50million bid to land the Croatian wide man, while The Independent suggested that Mourinho had turned to Rebic.
Kovac told Sport Bild: “There is nothing between FC Bayern and Ante Rebic. He is a strong personality and a great player but [a transfer] makes no sense. It doesn’t make sense today, and it won’t tomorrow.”
Rebic, 24, scored once at the World Cup and is believed to have impressed Mourinho, who was in Russia working for Russian TV.
Rebic told Goal: “I am obviously glad to hear and read about how many big coaches and clubs are asking about me. Honestly, I think I deserved it!
“I had a great World Cup and an even better club season with Eintracht. Yes, I know there are concrete offers, I keep in regular contact with my agent.”
