Bayern Munich star ‘would favour Spain’ over Man Utd, Chelsea switch

Alaba, CoutinhoTEAMtalk

David Alaba would favour a move to Spain over the Premier League should he leave Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports.

The left-back is currently in negotiations with Bayern over a new contract, but is yet to reach an agreement. And with only one year left on his deal, that has alerted some of Europe’s top teams to his potential availability.

That includes a number of English sides, including Chelsea, Manchester United and newly crowned champions Liverpool.

In fact, it is believed that Chelsea have made an official enquiry about Alaba. Frank Lampard’s number one target is Ben Chilwell, but Alaba could be an alternative option.

It is unclear how much Bayern would want for Alaba should they decide to sell. Although, the Bundesliga giants would prefer to cash in on him this summer as the threat of losing him for free in 2021 grows larger.

LA LIGA TO LURE ALABA

In a blow to the interested English clubs, the Telegraph are reporting that Alaba would choose to move to Spain over England.

The 28-year-old is of interest to Real Madrid and Barcelona with both sides on the look out for a new left-back.

Madrid could be about to part ways with Marcelo, whose place in the side has come under pressure from Ferland Mendy.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Jordi Alba has struggled with injuries this season leading to questions over his fitness. Junior Firpo, Alba’s understudy, has not been able to force his way into the starting line-up on a regular basis.

Therefore, Alaba is a man both have identified as a man who could bolster their squad for the coming years.

Bayern are likely to make another attempt to tie Alaba down to a new deal, but it appears he’ll have plenty of offers if they can’t agree new terms with the Austrian.
