Tariq Lamptey Brighton

Brighton have told Bayern Munich that their current offer to sign Tariq Lamptey will fall £9million short of their asking price, according to a report.

Lamptey’s stock has risen significantly since his January move to the south coast from Chelsea. Targeting regular game time, the 20-year-old took the bold move to find a new club, which is already paying off.

The right-back showed excellent promise during the Premier League restart this summer. However he has now become a crucial part of Graham Potter‘s side both in attack and defence.

As such, Sport1 claims European champions Bayern are considering bringing him to Germany. He wold be the latest product of English football to move to the Bundesliga, after Jude Bellingham.

The source claims Bayern are ready to pay up to €15million (£13.7million) for Lamptey. Brighton though are unwilling to let him leave for less than €25million (£22.8million).

Indeed the Seagulls are in a strong negotiating position, with three years remaining on Lamptey’s contract. As such, they are able to demand a significant fee for the full-back’s services.

In any case, Bayern have already made contact with Lamptey’s representatives to discuss a potential deal.

Sport1 adds that Bayern’s chase for Lamptey comes after – so far – unsuccessful attempts to sign two previous targets.

The German champions initially wanted to sign Sergino Dest from Ajax. However Barcelona look to have won the race for the USA international, after selling Nelson Semedo to Wolves.

Norwich’s Max Aarons is also a target but his name has only recently been mentioned by Bayern officials.

As such, Lamptey has emerged as a serious target for Hansi Flick’s side, who are looking to sign cover for Benjamin Pavard.

Asked about his team’s transfer hunt, Bayern boss Flick said (via Sport1): “”I’m not nervous! We will try to realize what is possible.”
