Benitez was doing decent job at Madrid – Gerrard

Steven Gerrard was sad to see Rafa Benitez sacked by Real Madrid but does not believe the former Liverpool boss will be out for work for long.
Benitez was sacked on Monday evening, with Zinedine Zidane appointed his replacement, after a 2-2 draw against Gary Neville’s Valencia 24 hours previously which left Los Blancos third in La Liga, four points behind leaders Atletico Madrid.
“I’m sad for Rafa because I thought he was doing a decent job at Madrid,” Gerrard said.
“But with the quality in his CV, I’m sure big clubs around the world will be trying to get Rafa Benitez because he’s a wonderful manager.”
With Benitez still owning a home on the Wirral, Gerrard would not be surprised to see the Spaniard back in the Premier League before long.
He added: “I can [see Benitez returning to England]. I don’t know what club though.
“You never know what club in the Premier League might need a manager because any club could need a manager at any given time.
“It’s a brutal business with results. Clubs change their managers very quickly at the moment.”
