Christian Benteke: Palace sign striker from Liverpool

Christian Benteke’s agent insists there is “nothing in” reports the Belgium striker is on the brink of a move to Crystal Palace and insists he will stay and fight for his Liverpool future.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Crystal Palace in recent weeks, with reports on Sunday claiming the Eagles had agreed terms with Benteke despite being yet to settle on a fee with Liverpool.

However, Kismet Eris, who represents Benteke and helped broker his £32.5million move from Aston Villa last summer, has told Sky Sports News there is “nothing in” these rumours and insists his client wants to fight for his future under Jurgen Klopp.

Eris was also keen to stress that Benteke is just one year into a five-year deal on Merseyside, which is believed to be worth £120,000 a week.

A move to Palace would see the striker become their top earner and Alan Pardew’s side are determined to land a big-name forward this summer, having alreayd lost out to Chelsea over Michy Batshuayi.

Benteke has just come back from holiday after featuring in Belgium’s squad at Euro 2016 and is still due more time off before his return to Klopp’s pre-season preparations.

The Belgium forward is also being linked with a move to West Ham, though the Hammers are to make an official approach for the player.
