The 26-year-old midfielder signed a two-year contract with the Minstermen on Tuesday after leaving Yeovil by mutual consent.

“It’s a massive move in terms of my career because I had a bit of a dip in form last year and it didn’t go well either so this is a big step for me and I’m determined to show people I’m a good player,” Berrett told York’s official website.

“I have just got to concentrate on my football and hopefully that will come.

“After speaking to the manager and chairman it seems an ambitious club and that is the sort of person I am.

“We should be looking towards the top half of the table or even the play-offs this season and hopefully we can do that.”

He added: “Moving away last year was a bit harder than I thought it was going to be.

“I’m just glad to be back in Yorkshire now and hopefully I can make this a positive move in my career.”
